Dear Students,
Students who wish to take courses at our summer school from other institutions of higher education are advised to carefully review the following information.
The points that students planning to take courses from another higher education institution during summer school should keep in mind are listed below:
- An application must be submitted to the Department Chair using the application form and the required documents listed in the attachment below:
Note: The language of the course to be taken must be specified in the application form.
- Lists of other higher education institutions from which courses may be taken during summer school are attached. To take courses from the institutions listed in the attachment, students are still required to apply to the department and obtain approval.
- Students of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences may take courses from the higher education institutions listed in the attachment, subject to the Department’s approval and a decision by the Faculty Administrative Board, in accordance with the “YTÜ Course Equivalency and Transfer Principles.” Courses taken without the approval of your registered department and the Faculty Administrative Board will not be recognized.
- After obtaining a signed receipt from your department confirming the approved course content of the course you wish to have credited at YTÜ, you must submit it to the Department of Economics along with the “Form Regarding YTÜ Students Taking Courses at Other Higher Education Institutions.” Incomplete applications or those submitted without a power of attorney will not be processed.
- Students may take a maximum of 9 (nine) credits from other higher education institutions during a single Summer School term.
- Students must pay attention to the registration dates of other higher education institutions and submit their applications accordingly. Having the course content approved by their home department does not mean that students are registered for the summer school at another higher education institution; students must also apply to the specific higher education institution where they wish to take courses. Application requirements and summer school course registration dates can be obtained from the higher education institution where the courses will be taken.
- The name of the course you wish to take does not have to be exactly the same as the course to be credited. In the course equivalency evaluation, both the course credit and content are taken into account.
- The credit of a course for which equivalence is sought must be at least 65% of the credit of the course to be considered equivalent, regardless of the number of class hours.
- At least 75% of the content of the course for which equivalence is sought (based on the course’s weekly syllabus) must be identical to the content of the course to be considered equivalent.
- The passing grade for a course taken at another higher education institution is the passing grade specified in the “YTÜ Associate’s and Bachelor’s Degree Education and Teaching Regulations” and the “YTÜ Graduate Education, Teaching, and Examination Regulations.” If a different grading system is used, the passing grade is evaluated in accordance with the “YTÜ Course Equivalency and Transfer Principles.”
- Approved grade transcripts sent by other higher education institutions are entered into the records after being approved by the Faculty Administrative Board.
- If the Faculty Administrative Board has granted you permission to take a course from another university but you later decide not to take that course, you must apply to our Department to request cancellation of the course. Otherwise, since you will be considered to have taken the course, a grade will be requested from the relevant university, and the received grade (fail, F0) will be entered into the YTÜ student automation system. This situation will cause your weighted cumulative GPA to decrease.
We wish you success.
